Description
30 x Feijoa (acca) sellowiana. Pineapple Guava
Feijoa sellowiana, also known as pineapple guava, is an evergreen shrub that has historically been a common site in New Zealand gardens, especially coastal gardens in the north island.
Has grey green foliage, fragrant white flowers, and delicious green fruit. Perfect for both ornamental and edible gardens, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and is highly drought-resistant once established.
Can be used as an informal open hedge, borders, or as a standalone specimen, this plant adds a tropical touch to any garden.
The plants are generally self-fertile, but production will improve with another feijoa variety with a similar flowering time, spaced down the hedge row, to cross pollinate with.
They will produce fruit in 2-3 years’ time.
Modern feijoa varieties have generally replaced this variety in terms of fruit size and productivity but can still be a viable option as an economical edible hedge.
Best planted in full sun to part shade. When mature the plants are frost tolerant and drought hardy.
Prune after fruiting to keep compact.
30 young plants in 5cm pots standing 10-20cm.
